Dungeon 256 is a game built for my DIY pixel display (see pictures below). The display consists of 256 RGB LEDs and a custom frame and diffusor to give the impression of large glowing pixels. The brightness is incredibly high, which results in the outside world fading into the background.
I designed Dungeon 256 to be co-operative game where both player control the same character. It is top down dungeon crawler where one player controls the character and the other can shoot to kill enemies. To finish each stage, the players have to collect all glowing pixels, but each time a pixel is collected, the controls between the players swap.
The display is driven via custom Arduino code and accepts input via serial connection. The game itself is written in Unity3d.
